Intimate London Winter Wedding at Morden Park House
Ally and Damon’s intimate London winter wedding Morden Park House was an absolute joy to photograph last month before Christmas. I’ve known Ally since school, so when she asked me to be her wedding photographer, I immediately said yes. I had also recently photographed Ally for her new career as a voice actor artist.
It took Damon 5 days to build up the confidence to contact Ally after Tinder had matched them. She happened to be away in Las Vegas for work and was visiting the Valley of Fire. They finally met in person two weeks later to go wine tasting in London, the venue where they would eventually hold their wedding reception.
Back in Las Vegas on holiday a few months later, they decided to go to the Valley of Fire together to see the sunrise. Getting up at 4 am they drove into the desert where Damon set up the camera to film the sunrise. To Ally’s surprise, he was actually preparing to film his proposal and produced gorgeous silhouetted stills from the film.
It was a very cold winters day when they said “I Do’ to one another and we had some of the most beautiful golden hour light after their ceremony at Merton Registry Office.
I started the day with Ally getting ready at the local Holiday Inn with her mum and official unofficial Maid of Honour who was in charge of hair, makeup and helping Ally into her beautiful short “Eva” dress by Anna Sorrano – who also featured this wedding on their Real Bride blog. It has gorgeous detail on the back and trailing lace down the bodice.
I then set off for the ceremony taking place at Merton Registry Office based at Morden Park Hall in South West London for an intimate gathering of the pairs’ nearest and dearest.
Ally and Damon gave some seriously fun and happy confetti faces for their confetti shot! I love these pics – take a look at them below! I took the newlyweds off for some couple portraits in the dreamy December golden hour light before heading off to The Weyside Pub in Guildford, London for their wedding reception.
This particular reception venue holds a special significance to Ally and Damon as it’s where they had their first date – we even captured a few images of them sat outside in the exact spot they had their first date. The chairs and wooden beams were covered in tiny fairy lights and small baubles – personalised with guests own pictures – were scattered amongst the three tables which made the atmosphere feel so cosy and Christmassy!
When we’d finished our meals and the speeches were spoken, I took the opportunity to get creative with off camera flash to add some drama and mood to the night-time couple portraits along with the outside fairy lights to creat a gorgeous evening portrait of the couple before we headed off to the drinks reception at Jackson & Rye in Guildford. Ally and Damon had decided to have their first dance in Guildford’s Town Centre with all their guests covered in the fairy lights from the reception which was super romantic and really special to witness.
Absolutely great day photographing this winter wedding!

“We’ve just received our wedding photos and are so unbelievably happy with them! From the very start Laura made us feel so special and her service is so personal. She captured such beautiful moments and was so patient with us and our crazy family. She was so discreet that there’s some really touching moment she captured without us knowing she was there! The finish on the photographs too are outstanding and we’ve had so many compliments on them! Thank you so much Laura!
Love Ally and Damon”
