Relaxed Festival Tipi Wedding

Colourful, relaxed tipi wedding at Evenley Wood Garden

Last month Lizzie and Mike tied the knot in Northamptonshire with a relaxed festival tipi wedding at the beautiful 60 acre private woodland, Evenley Wood Garden wedding venue in the heart of the countryside and I was really excited to be there as their wedding photographer.

Bridal Prep

I spent the morning with Lizzie and her bridesmaids and family for bridal prep. Everyone was calm, and happy and the bubbles were flowing! Lizzie presented her bridesmaids with a lovely necklace each.

I spent time photographing the wedding details, bridal prep and of course Lizzie’s gorgeous Lis Simons dress. It was such a fun and relaxed vibe at the house and it started the day off so well!

Evenley Wood Garden wedding venue

I headed off to the wedding venue Evenley Wood Garden where the grooms and groomsmen, looking fabulous in their Master Debonair suits, were meeting wedding guests and helping them set up in their allocated tipi tents and directing everyone to the outdoor open area for the wedding ceremony, a perfect tipi wedding in Northamptonshire.

The bridal flowers from Willis Florists were so colourful and bright and looked stunning all lined up together for the photos with some dreamy back light next to the main tipi and fire pit.

Photos in the rain

With rain forecast all day, it had held off and the unique wedding ceremony was in full flow with celebrant Lynn Tierney Ceremonies at the helm. As the ceremony progressed the sky turned darker and darker, and the rain came!! But these guys carried on, the guests popped their umbrellas and thankfully someone was happy enough to hold one over me!

The rain and sun took turns throughout the rest of the day and between the showers I photographed the group shots and couple portraits. The couple and guests sat for dinner and were served up Indian food.

Personal touches & speeches

The table’s centrepieces had a chemistry feel with laboratory glass test tubes and each table being named after festivals the couple had been too. Such a creative and personal touch in a nod to how they love to spend their time together.

Speeches started with a speech for the bride from the maid of honour, Lizzie’s best mate and WOW! It was so funny and everyone was roaring. The best men who took their turn afterwards certainly did not want to get up after her!!

The whole day was filled with love, laughter and very happy guests. The party was started by Motown Gold live wedding band and after photographing some dancing, it was time for me to leave them to it!

How to build a wedding playlist your guests actually love Crafting the perfect wedding playlist is genuinely one of my favourite parts of wedding planning – because it changes the whole feel of the day. Having photographed hundreds of weddings, I can tell you this: the couples who look the most relaxed aren’t the ones with the “perfect” plan… they’re the ones who aren’t trying to do everything themselves. There are a few tiny jobs that make a massive difference to how smoothly your day runs – and they’re exactly […]
