Hampton Manor is what happens when a boutique hotel and a country manor have a very stylish baby.
It doesn’t feel like the Shropshire venues I photograph most often – and that’s exactly the point. Where Davenport House and Hawkstone Hall have that quintessential English countryside feel, Hampton Manor has something slightly different: a sense of considered luxury that’s more polished, more design-led, and genuinely world-class when it comes to food.
I’m Laura – a wedding photographer based in Shropshire, photographing celebrations across the UK with a fine-art documentary approach. I’ve photographed weddings at Hampton Manor as lead photographer, and it’s a venue that suits couples who care as much about the guest experience as the aesthetics – people who want their wedding to feel genuinely special from the moment guests arrive, right through to the last dance.

What makes Hampton Manor different
The food. I know that sounds like a strange thing for a photographer to lead with, but at Hampton Manor it genuinely shapes the whole atmosphere of the day. Michelin-starred menus, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, a kitchen that takes it seriously – guests notice, they relax into it, and that energy carries through everything that follows. The couples who choose Hampton Manor tend to be the kind of people who’d rather spend their budget on an incredible experience than an Instagram backdrop. Both things are true here, which is rare.
The setting itself is beautiful – an Arts and Crafts manor house with manicured gardens, woodland paths, and a variety of portrait spots all within easy reach. But it photographs differently to a traditional country house. There’s a crispness to it, a modernity, that makes it particularly well suited to couples with a more contemporary aesthetic.
Ceremony options at Hampton Manor
If you’re having your ceremony at Hampton Manor you have two main options: the Birches barn – a romantic, light-filled outdoor structure – or the historic church just a short walk through the trees for a more traditional service, with the reception back at the manor.
I’ve experienced both as a photographer and each has its own quality. The church walk through the woodland is one of those moments that photographs almost by itself.
The grounds and portraits
Hampton Manor gives real variety without ever having to go far – the manor façade, the walled garden, woodland paths, manicured lawns. I typically take couples for 15–20 minutes during the drinks reception, keep it calm and easy, and come back with portraits that feel like them rather than a photoshoot.
On a summer evening with good light, the grounds here are genuinely stunning. Charlotte and Eddie’s wedding was a scorcher – we made the most of the golden hour and the sunset portraits were some of my favourites from that year.
