Behind the scenes of a personal branding photoshoot in Shropshire

Personal branding photography is really important when you’re self-employed. It helps set you apart from your competitors and build trust with potential customers. This is important for all business owners, but particularly coaches, whose success depends on a deep level of trust between them and their clients, which is why a personal branding photoshoot in Shropshire is something to consider.

When Nicola Lowe, a women’s coach and founder of Wisdom for Working Mums, was in need of a fresh set of brand photos, she booked in a full-day shoot with me. The beauty of a longer photo shoot is it gives you more time for location changes, outfit changes, and multiple props.

Just like me, Nicola is based in the West Midlands (though I frequently travel for these kind of shoots, as I did for the lovely Bella in London) so we used multiple locations in Bridgnorth—a restaurant with a lovely indoor and outdoor area, and another pub with an awesome bar area—as well as Nicola’s home in Wolverhampton. This allowed us to have multiple photos showcasing Nicola at work, increasing the practical application of her photos.

Ideas for what to wear on a personal branding photoshoot

This maximum practicality also inspired Nicola’s multiple outfit changes, which ranged from smart casual (a white blouse and jacket, jeans and trainers), to more corporate (a leather pencil skirt and white shirt) to party (a sequin top). Though some of her outfits were standalone pieces like dresses, many of these outfits shared similar elements, so we weren’t lugging around her full wardrobe all day!

As well as the different outfits, the number of different locations meant that Nicola was able to get a huge variety of photos for different scenarios. For example, we took more relaxed photos drinking coffee on a leather sofa, as well as more corporate photos working from a laptop outside. We also did some more formal headshot photos, as well as photos of Nicola in situ at her desk and speaking into her podcast mic.

Towards the end of the shoot, Nicola changed into a sequined top and cracked open some champagne for some final celebratory photos! I really loved this idea for a final setup, because as a women’s coach part of her job is to celebrate the wins of her clients.

This is a perfect example of how personal branding photography can convey what you do—even if it’s not super literal interpretations of your work (which are represented by the laptop and microphone setup shots).

Personal branding photoshoot in Shropshire

I know how helpful it can be to see personal branding examples from other small business owners, so I hope you enjoy browsing some of my favourite photos from the photo shoot with Nicola throughout this blog.

I had so much fun working with Nicola on her full day personal branding photography shoot, and am thrilled to say she loves them too! You can see them in situ across all of her social media profiles, like her Instagram and Linkedin) as well as her podcast and website

She even had this lovely review about working with me:

“I’ve hired Laura twice now for two personal branding photoshoots. Each time it’s been a joy to work with her. She is professional, talented and a really lovely person—so she makes you feel at ease while also taking technically brilliant photos.”

How lovely! If you’re looking for a branding photoshoot in the West Midlands or beyond, then I’d love to help–you can check out more information here, and get in touch here
