Elegant and Romantic Wedding with Dogs and Doughnuts

Laura (great name) and James’ elegant and romantic Iscoyd Park wedding was a really special one to shoot, for so many reasons. Not only because it was at the gorgeous Iscoyd Park (which I blogged about a few weeks ago too, you can see that here if you fancy), but because they were one of the very first couples to book me when I went full-time self employed as a wedding photographer – and the very last pandemic postponement I photographed, so it was a long time coming (and I’m sure it felt even longer for them!)

Their day was relaxed, emotional, joyful, elegant and romantic – all the good stuff – as well as totally beautiful too. Check out their timeless take on rustic below!

Timeless take on rustic romance

The vibe for Laura and James’ Iscoyd Park wedding day was a timeless take on rustic: meaning classic without being cliché, and simple without being boring. They brought this to life with a colour palette comprising sage green and white with accents of gold.

Of course, Iscoyd Park was the perfect place to bring this to life. “We visited around 5 venues, but Iscoyd was always our first choice due to the exclusivity, on site accommodation, the bright white ceremony room decor and the beautiful grounds.” they explain.

There’s even more to love about the venue, too – when I asked Laura and James what they were looking forward to about their wedding, Laura said being husband and wife, and James said the lamb dinner!

(And whilst we’re on the topic of food…they had a full epic suite of doughnuts from Planet Doughnut later in the day, which looked and tasted absolutely incredible.)

Sage green, white and gold

In particular their florist White Wysteria created some incredible arrangements for the day, alongside the bride and bridesmaids’ bouquets and the groom’s party’s buttonholes. In particular, white roses, hydrangea, eucalyptus and more burst from the bottom of the focal staircase, making for an incredible reveal.

Another element of Laura and James’ Iscoyd Park wedding decor which I was absolutely obsessed with was their table plan, which hung from a literal tree inside. Not only did this obviously nail the elegant green, white and gold theme, but it was such a clever use of the tall ceilings and available space of their gorgeous venue!

Personalised wedding elements

To make this already gorgeous theme even more gorgeous by really representing them, Laura and James added loads of personalised elements to their Iscoyd Park wedding.  Coming up with and putting together the personalised touches such as the bedroom welcome packs and the favours was one of their favourite parts of wedding planning! (Plus…personalised beer pong table? Why the hell not?!)

The total star of the day was their beloved Labrador Dougie, who couldn’t be present at the day but featured throughout it – including having his own cocktail, starring on the table numbers, and a super cute lookalike cake topper too.

Laura and James did and equally good job of making their best human friends feel so loved and looked after, too. For example, drinks awaited their guests as they exited the beautiful ceremony, with some delicious mock tequila sunrises lined up in reserve for those guests who weren’t drinking.

They also did a lovely job of honouring the family and friends who are no longer with us, with a table full of old family photos and a memory candle that burned throughout the day – I just love sentimental touches.

If you’d have told me back in 2018 when they booked me I wouldn’t shoot Laura and James’ wedding until 2023, I’d have looked at you like you had two heads – but it was absolutely worth the wait. Their day was relaxed and beautiful, a perfect representation of the two of them, and I had the time of my life capturing it for them forever!

Gushy Note

“From our initial consultation and throughout the planning process, Laura was friendly, professional & knowledgeable. We had an engagement photo session prior to our wedding which was the perfect opportunity to get to know Laura. We felt completely comfortable in Laura’s presence and knew from then that we had chosen the right person to photograph our wedding.

Laura gained lots of information about us, our wedding & our requirements prior to the wedding day which demonstrated her dedication and passion towards the job and her couples.

We had to postpone our wedding date numerous times & Laura was so understanding & accommodating with this.

Laura is a really approachable & warm person so it was lovely to have her with us on our wedding day, not only as a photographer but as a friend. Laura was fantastic at making sure we were running to schedule and in the right place at the right time for the group photos. Throughout the day Laura was brilliant at capturing all the important moments without being at all intrusive. So many of our guests have commented on how hardworking, organised & friendly Laura was.

Laura sent us preview photos really quickly so we could enjoy them on our honeymoon. We were absolutely blown away when we received the previews. Laura really has captured the happiness of the day and the photos are truly beautiful. Our families are over the moon with the preview photos, we’ve had to persuade them to wait until the final photos arrive as they are so desperate to print them!

We cannot recommend Laura enough, and this is not just down to her beautiful photographs but for being such a huge support & friend to us throughout our wedding journey.”
