Garthmyl Hall Wedding Photographer

Garthmyl Hall wedding venue exterior with red-brick frontage and columned entrance

Garthmyl Hall is the venue I recommend when couples tell me they want somewhere that feels considered down to the last detail.

Not in a corporate, every-surface-styled way. In the way of a house that’s been genuinely thought about – a blue-washed room here, bold wallpaper there, chandeliers, open fireplaces, a long dining table that makes the wedding breakfast feel like a proper occasion. Each room has its own personality and they all photograph beautifully.

I’m Laura, hi!, a Shropshire wedding photographer specialising in romantic, fine-art documentary photography. I know Garthmyl Hall well – I’ve photographed weddings, boudoir sessions and branding shoots here, so I understand how the light moves through the spaces across a full day. That makes a difference when I’m working quietly in the background and I know exactly where to be.

What makes Garthmyl Hall different

It’s a small venue in the best possible sense – exclusive hire, one wedding per weekend, no sharing the space with strangers. What you get is the whole place to yourselves: the designed interiors, the walled garden, the accommodation, all of it.

The interiors are genuinely striking. A room washed in deep blue. Bold, considered wallpaper. Chandeliers catching the afternoon light. Fireplaces that make speeches feel intimate rather than formal. It’s the kind of venue that looks incredible in photographs without needing much additional styling – which usually means couples can spend their budget on the things that actually matter to them.

They’ve also recently added an orangery – a brilliant new space that opens up even more possibilities for ceremonies and portraits.

The walled garden

The walled garden at Garthmyl Hall is a beautiful outdoor ceremony option; ivy-covered walls, seasonal planting, a layout that feels private and intimate without being cramped. I haven’t yet photographed a ceremony out there, but I’ve spent time in it and it photographs well from multiple angles.

If an outdoor ceremony is something you’re considering, it’s worth asking the venue about – particularly in late spring and summer.

The accommodation

One of Garthmyl’s quieter selling points is the additional accommodation outside the main venue building. Guests can stay on site, which changes the whole energy of a wedding weekend – nobody’s rushing for taxis, everyone’s relaxed, and the evening has that rare quality of feeling genuinely unhurried.

What Carrie & Callum said:

“We spent about 2 and a half hours going through all the photos last night with our family – even had aunty and uncle pop round for a party. They are AMAZING! It’s a nice balance of emotional and HILARIOUS!”

How to build a wedding playlist your guests actually love I’ve photographed weddings since 2016. I’ve watched a lot of first dances. I’ve seen ceremony music make entire rooms cry, and drinks receptions fall flat because the music was wrong for the moment. Music shapes how your wedding day feels – not just sounds. Get […]

After nearly a decade of photographing weddings, I’ve had a lot of conversations with couples – before, during and after their wedding day. The same things come up again and again: what they’d do differently, what they wished they’d known, what genuinely didn’t matter as much as they thought it would. Here are 16 of […]

Having photographed hundreds of weddings, I can tell you this: the couples who look the most relaxed aren’t the ones with the “perfect” plan… they’re the ones who aren’t trying to do everything themselves. There are a few tiny jobs that make a massive difference to how smoothly your day runs – and they’re exactly […]
